A Letter from the Principal
The Benson Digital Learning Center continues to see growth in our online program. Enrollment numbers have steadily increased as more families are recognizing the flexibility and individualized support our virtual platform provides. To build on this momentum, we are preparing to launch a targeted marketing campaign aimed at surrounding communities. Our goal is to draw in additional out-of-district students and expand our reach to learners who may benefit from alternative pathways outside their home districts.
For October, our On Track Character Trait is Accountability. At the BDLC, an accountable student stays on track in their classes, works hard to achieve personal goals, and demonstrates integrity in everything they do. We are proud to recognize students who embody these values each day.
Our In-Person Student of the Month is Charlotte Cluff. Mr. Webb writes: “Charlotte always owns her actions, follows through on her responsibilities, and sets a great example for everyone around her. Whether it’s staying on top of her work, helping out a classmate, or stepping up when things get tough, Charlotte can always be counted on. We’re proud of the effort, honesty, and consistency she brings every day — way to go, Charlotte!”
Our Online Student of the Month is Jake Scouten. Jake is a dedicated student who puts full effort into everything he does. In addition to keeping up with his online coursework, Jake is taking a college class and is an active member of the football team. Mrs. Homerski shares her pride in Jake’s hard work, responsibility, and strong follow-through across his many commitments.
We are also excited to recognize our CTED Student of the Quarter for Quarter One, Hayden VanWormer. Hayden worked tirelessly last year to get back on track to graduation. This year, she stepped well outside her comfort zone by enrolling in her first dual credit course, working toward a certification in Behavioral Health. Her college instructor describes her simply as “amazing,” and we could not agree more. On top of her regular coursework and college class, Hayden maintains a steady job and carries a major role in helping her household. We are incredibly proud of her determination, responsibility, and growth.
The BDLC remains committed to offering flexible pathways, celebrating student success, and expanding opportunities for learners both in-person and remotely.
We are incredibly proud of our students and grateful for the ongoing support from the district, staff, and community. Thank you for your commitment to student success.
Sincerely, Shannon Sherman Principal, Benson Digital Learning Center
